How these All of Us Are Dead quotes were checked

Every line on this page was found word for word in an English subtitle transcript of all 12 episodes, and the episode number comes from that transcript. Speakers come from the transcript’s name tags or from the scene. IMDb had no quotes listed for the show when we checked on 21 October 2026. IPA is the US pronunciation from the Cambridge Dictionary.

All of Us Are Dead (Korean: 지금 우리 학교는) is filmed in Korean, so every English line is a translation. Different English subtitle tracks translate the same Korean differently, and some lines on Screen Rant and fan lists are worded differently from the transcript we used. If your version words a line differently, both can be right; the versions table shows the common pairs.

Lee Cheong-san quotes, including “the happiest guy in this school”

Lee Cheong-san (Yoon Chan-young) is On-jo’s childhood friend and neighbour. His lines are short and direct, which makes them easy to repeat.

“It’s not like anyone is going to save us if we stay here. We’re the only ones who can save ourselves.”Ep. 9The class is scared to move during the thunderstorm; Cheong-san pushes them to go.It’s not like… = spoken “nobody will…”. Stress our-SELVES.

Two All of Us Are Dead quotes in the original Korean

Both Korean lines below are quoted in Korean press coverage of the show; the romanisation is a reading aid.

KoreanRomanisationWord by wordEnglish subtitle
오늘은 내가 이 학교에서 제일 행복한 놈이다! (Cheong-san)Oneureun naega i hakgyoeseo jeil haengbokhan nomida!today / I / this school-in / most / happy / guy-am. Nom is a rough, casual word for “guy”.“Today, I am the happiest guy in this school!” Quoted in Herald Pop and OSEN, February 2022.
누군가를 죽음으로 내몰면 사는 게 아무것도 아니게 돼. (Ms. Park)Nugungareul jugeumeuro naemolmyeon saneun ge amugeotdo anige dwae.someone / to death / if you drive / living / nothing / becomes.“If you cause someone else to die, life becomes completely meaningless.” Quoted in The Hankyoreh, May 2022.

Yoon Chan-young told Herald Pop that Cheong-san’s line is in the original webtoon and that he wanted to make it look really cool. Director Lee Jae-kyoo told Celuv Media he cried at the monitor while the scene was filmed. Korean outlets word Ms. Park’s line slightly differently too: a KBS review has 죽음에 내몰면… 아닌 게 돼.

Nam On-jo quotes

Nam On-jo (Park Ji-hu) is Cheong-san’s neighbour and the daughter of a rescue-team captain. Her lines often state a rule about people.

QuoteEpisodeSceneLearner notes
Nam-ra: “The truth is, all of us have some sort of prejudice. We all have preconceptions about other people.”Ep. 1In Ms. Park’s English class, Nam-ra puts the teacher’s sentence “none of us are completely free from prejudice” into her own words.prejudice /ˈpredʒ.ə.dɪs/, preconception /ˌpriː.kənˈsep.ʃən/. free from = without.

Lee Byeong-chan quotes: the science teacher who made the virus

Lee Byeong-chan (Kim Byung-chul) teaches science at Hyosan High and created the Jonas Virus after his son Jin-su was bullied (Wikipedia). Many of his later lines are videos on the laptop he left in the school lab.

QuoteEpisodeSceneLearner notes
“Humanity has never once completely defeated a virus.”Ep. 1A science class about viruses, before the outbreak.humanity /hjuːˈmæn.ə.t̬i/ = all people. Never once is stronger than never.

“You can forget someone who dies but it’s hard to forget someone who has changed.”Ep. 11Another recorded video: the virus turned people he loved into monsters.Has changed: the change is done and still matters.

Quotes from the adults: Ms. Park, On-jo’s father and the assemblywoman

Park Sun-hwa (Lee Sang-hee) is the class’s homeroom and English teacher. Nam So-ju (Jeon Bae-soo), On-jo’s father, leads a rescue team. Park Eun-hee (Bae Hae-sun) is the local member of the National Assembly.

All of Us Are Dead quotes about bullying: Gwi-nam, Na-yeon and Eun-ji

Bullying drives the plot, from the opening scene to the virus itself. In Korea, some critics said the bullying and sexual-violence scenes were shown in too much detail (Kyunghyang Shinmun, February 2022). The lines below are about cruelty and its cost; we left out the graphic ones.

QuoteEpisodeSceneLearner notes
Na-yeon: “I can’t stand you, stupid welfie.”Ep. 3She insults Gyeong-su, who comes from a low-income family. Ms. Park later asks, “What’s a welfie?” and is told: “A person on welfare.”Welfie is the subtitles’ version of a Korean slur for people on welfare. Bizhankook names the show’s slur, 기생수, as open discrimination. Do not use it.
Na-yeon: “I don’t need any of you.”Ep. 3The class learns she infected Gyeong-su and calls her a murderer; she storms out.any of you = not one of you.
Eun-ji: “Now, I really wish the school would burn down. Till nothing’s left.”Ep. 4On the roof with Cheol-su, another student the bullies targeted.wish + would = a wish about something you want to happen. Till = until.

“A half-bie? What’s half-bie? Short for half zombie? … It’s like half and half. Like half spicy, half fried.”Ep. 6Classmates invent a name for Nam-ra, who is infected but still herself. Dae-su gets hungry for chicken.A blend of two words. Korean coverage calls Nam-ra 절비, short for “only half zombie” (Bizhankook). Half and half is a fried-chicken order.
“What’s with ‘Bare-su’?” “It’s short for Barefoot Su-hyeok.”Ep. 1Ms. Park calls Su-hyeok by his nickname in class; classmates explain that he hates wearing socks. What’s with X? = why X? A very common spoken question.
