Fluently is an app to learn Chinese with AI by speaking it: you hold spoken conversations in Mandarin with an AI tutor that corrects grammar and phrasing as you talk. Captions and corrections translate into your own language with a tap.
The correction, explained
Mandarin puts a measure word between a number and a noun, and books take 本 (běn). 个 (gè) is the general measure word, but many nouns, books included, have their own.

What the tutor does
Level check
A short check at the start, where you pick the Chinese words you know, estimates your level before the first conversation.
Speaking
You talk out loud and the tutor answers in Chinese, asks follow-up questions and keeps the conversation going on topics you choose.
Corrections
A grammar slip or an unnatural phrase gets a short correction card in the moment, with the rule explained in Chinese.
Translation
Captions and correction cards translate into your own language, and you can say a missing word in your language when you get stuck.
Review
Each session keeps what you said and the corrections, so you can go back over it before the next conversation.
Situations
The tutor talks about whatever you bring to it. These are situations learners often rehearse, with the kind of line you would say. They are conversation topics, not preset courses or modes in the app.

Installing the app and the level check are free. Conversations with the tutor are part of a Fluently subscription; when a trial is available, the app shows it before you pay.
Corrections appear during the conversation. Word order, measure words and phrasing that sounds translated from English get a short card with the more natural Mandarin while you keep talking; the explanation is written in Chinese, with a translate button for your own language. Tones are not graded.
English puts the place after the verb; Mandarin puts it before: 在 (zài) + place + verb. So 工作 (gōngzuò, to work) moves to the end.
The tutor simplifies its Mandarin when you struggle and lets you say a missing word in your own language, so the conversation keeps going. It gets longer as you manage more.

Each card has a short explanation in Chinese and a translate button, and the session notes keep the corrections for later. Tones and pronunciation are not scored for Chinese.
