Best AI Mock Interview Tools in 2026: 12 Compared on Price, Free Practice and Feedback

The best AI mock interview tool depends on the round you face. Huru gives job seekers every feature free; Interviews by AI turns a pasted job description into questions; interviewing.io and HackerRank cover coding rounds; Aced keeps Pramp’s free peer mocks; ChatGPT voice is the do-it-yourself option. Google Interview Warmup, still on several lists, now redirects to a tips article. Every price below was checked on the vendor’s own page in October 2026.

How we compared the tools
Every price, free allowance and feature here comes from the vendor’s own pricing page, product page or help article, opened on 21 October 2026, and is linked in the tool’s section. Prices are in US dollars as the pages showed them; taxes, regional prices and promotions can change them, so open the pricing page before you pay. Complaints about real use come from two Reddit threads that rank for these searches.
We did not run practice sessions in these tools, buy plans or compare how accurate their scores are, so this is a researched comparison of published features, not a hands-on test. Ratings and user counts that vendors print about themselves are left out.
What happened to Google Interview Warmup?
Google Interview Warmup is no longer available. On 21 October 2026, its old address, grow.google/certificates/interview-warmup, redirected US visitors to a Grow with Google article on interview preparation that recommends Gemini Live in the Gemini app for AI practice. Several lists that rank for this search still recommend Warmup for free practice, so treat any list that does as out of date. For the same free speak-and-review practice, use Huru or the Fluently mock interview, or try Gemini Live as Google suggests.
The 12 AI mock interview tools, one by one
Huru: free video or audio mock interviews
Huru charges job seekers nothing. Its pricing section lists one plan for job seekers, at $0: unlimited mock interviews, the full AI feedback report, 50,000+ questions and a live AI interviewer; only universities and hiring teams pay (checked October 2026).
You answer on audio only or on camera. Each answer is scored out of 100 on relevance, structure, specificity, impact and articulation; video adds notes on eye contact, posture, expressions and framing. Huru runs on the web, in an iOS app and as a Chrome extension; for Android, its FAQ points to the web app.
Interviews by AI: questions built from a job description
Paste a job description into Interviews by AI and it writes role-specific questions; you answer out loud or in writing against a timer. Each answer gets scores for structure, specificity, delivery and filler words, notes against the STAR method and a rewritten version built from your own facts.
The pricing page lists Basic at $0 with 3 questions a month and no card, and Pro at $9 a month with unlimited questions and resume upload (checked October 2026).
Fluently mock interview: free spoken practice in the browser
Fluently publishes this page; here is what our tool does and does not do. The Fluently mock interview is free in the browser with no account. You choose Screening classics, Behavioral or Job-specific (Software Engineer, Product Manager, Data Analyst, Marketing, Sales or Customer Support) and answer 5 questions out loud, each followed by an interviewer follow-up.
After each answer it shows the length, your pace in words per minute and the filler words it caught, plus a coaching tip. It does not grade the content or technical accuracy of what you say, so pair it with a tool that does. The Fluently app for iOS and Android adds feedback on pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary and grammar; it is a free download with a free four-minute speaking assessment, and full practice is a subscription after a free trial (rated 4.8 on the US App Store from about 6,000 ratings, checked 21 October 2026).
SmallTalk2Me: interview practice for non-native English speakers
SmallTalk2Me is built for people preparing for a job interview in English as a second language. Its mock interview asks recruiter-style questions, records your spoken answers and gives feedback on grammar, fluency, vocabulary, confidence and answer quality.
A free account includes the first mock interview and 2 lessons of the job interview course. The Pro plan costs $35 a month, or $21 a month billed $252 a year, and adds the full course and what the page calls “human-like feedback” on job interviews (checked October 2026). It suits a candidate whose real problem is the English, not the story.
Yoodli: delivery coaching through AI role-play
Yoodli is built mainly for company training such as sales role-play; its interview preparation page offers the same AI role-play for job interviews, with follow-up questions and feedback on your answers and delivery, such as pace and clarity.
On the pricing page, Starter is free with 5 role-plays in total (any session over 30 seconds counts), Pro is $8 a month billed annually for up to 10 a week, and Advanced is $20 a month billed annually for unlimited role-plays (checked October 2026).
Big Interview: a course with audio and video practice
Big Interview combines video lessons with two practice modes. PracticeAI asks audio-only questions built from a pasted job description (required) and your resume (optional), scores each answer on role alignment, clarity and confidence, and shows an “optimized answer” next to your transcript. VideoAI analyses recorded video answers for body language, eye contact, pace and filler words.
There is no free plan for individuals: the pricing page lists $39 for 30 days, $99 for 3 months or $299 for lifetime access, with a 30-day refund (checked October 2026). Students should ask their career centre first, because Big Interview sells to universities and that page mentions tools for ESL learners.
Final Round AI: practice interviews next to a live copilot
Final Round AI’s main product is Interview CoPilot, a desktop app for macOS and Windows that listens to a live interview and shows suggested answers in a private window. Its homepage says Stealth Mode, on by default, hides that window from screen sharing and recordings. The same app runs practice interviews in eight scenarios, from coding and system design to product case and salary negotiation, and writes a debrief after each one.
Practice is a paid feature. The homepage advertises Pro “$25+/mo” and says there is no free trial; the plan page shows $25 a month billed yearly, $83.33 billed quarterly and $150 billed monthly and says monthly plans are non-refundable (both checked October 2026). Read the section on employer rules below before you use the live copilot.
LinkedIn AI interview prep: practice for a specific listing
LinkedIn’s AI interview prep is a Premium feature. On a job where you are a top, high or medium match, “Practice an interview” opens a mock interview in LinkedIn Learning with questions generated from that job description. You can answer out loud or type. Afterwards you get an interview readiness score, strengths, areas to improve and a transcript with suggestions. LinkedIn caps it at 20 sessions a day and says it is gradually rolling out in English (checked October 2026).
Aced (formerly Exponent) and Pramp: peer mocks for tech and product roles
Searches for Pramp and Exponent both end at Aced now. Pramp’s homepage says all new sessions have been hosted on Aced Practice since July 2024, and tryexponent.com redirects to aced.io (checked October 2026). The practice page pairs you with another candidate over video in a collaborative environment; you interview each other and swap feedback. Tracks include algorithms, system design, product management, behavioral, SQL, data science, frontend and investment banking.
On the plans page, Basic is $0 with 5 peer mocks a month, Pro is $12 a month billed annually with unlimited peer mocks and courses, and AI mock interviews with AI feedback sit in Expert at $20 a month billed annually (checked October 2026). Peer quality varies: in an r/leetcode thread, the poster called Pramp’s partners unreliable and the sessions low quality.
interviewing.io: human technical mocks and a free AI interviewer
interviewing.io sells anonymous mock interviews with senior engineers from FAANG and similar companies. Sessions use audio and a shared code editor, with no video. The FAQ says premium interviews start at $179, the price depends on the topic and on whether you want an interviewer from a specific company, and unhappy users get a full refund (checked October 2026).
The free part is the AI Interviewer: coding and system design interviews in a FAANG style, with feedback at the end and over 200 problems from Beyond Cracking the Coding Interview. Check that it works from your country before you plan around it; in the same r/leetcode thread, one user said it was not available in the Philippines and another guessed it had not reached India yet.
HackerRank AI mock interviews: timed technical rounds
HackerRank’s AI mock interviews cover a technical screen, coding, system design, AI fluency, behavioral, React frontend and Node.js backend rounds of 30 or 60 minutes. You talk or chat with an AI interviewer, then get feedback on your approach, code and communication.
HackerRank’s help centre lists two free mocks, one Software Engineer coding interview and one technical screen, each usable once. Everything else runs on credits that do not expire; the price shows at checkout, and candidates in India pay through Razorpay (checked October 2026).
ChatGPT voice: the do-it-yourself mock interview
ChatGPT voice turns a general assistant into an interviewer if you write good instructions. Voice works on the web, iOS and Android. The pricing page gives the Free plan “limited voice chats” and prices Go at $8 a month and Plus at $20 a month; OpenAI’s voice help article allows both paid plans 3 hours of Live voice in a rolling 24 hours (checked October 2026). Gemini Live in the Gemini app is Google’s equivalent.
The weak points: you bring the job description and the rubric, and the quality depends on your prompt. A strict prompt is further down.
Which AI mock interview tool fits your interview?

Match the tool to the round and to the skill that is weakest. For the questions themselves, our list of mock interview questions and answers covers the classic screening and behavioral set.
| Your situation | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Interviewing in English as a second language | SmallTalk2Me or the Fluently app; the Fluently mock interview for pace and fillers | Feedback on the English itself, not only on structure |
| Student or fresher with no budget | Huru first, then your university’s Big Interview or StandOut access | Huru is free; Big Interview and StandOut sell to universities |
| Software engineer, coding rounds | interviewing.io AI Interviewer, HackerRank free mocks, Aced peers | Code editor, timer and real follow-up questions |
| System design | interviewing.io, HackerRank, Aced | All three run system design as its own interview type |
| Product manager or case interview | Aced product track; Final Round AI product case scenario | Case rounds need follow-ups that test assumptions |
| One-way video interview (HireVue style) | Huru on camera; Big Interview VideoAI | Camera feedback on eye contact and body language |
| Behavioral round, STAR stories | Interviews by AI, Huru | Scores on structure and specifics plus a rewritten answer |
| Job you found on LinkedIn, with Premium | LinkedIn AI interview prep | Questions come from that exact listing |
| Interview tomorrow, no time to set up | Fluently mock interview or ChatGPT voice | No sign-up, or an app you already use |
AI interviews by employers vs AI practice tools
An AI interview run by an employer is a screening test; an AI mock interview tool is rehearsal. HireVue’s candidate FAQ, for one, describes an OnDemand interview as one with no person at the other end. In its video-based assessments you see a written or video question and get several minutes to answer; most have 5 to 8 questions and take under 20 to 30 minutes (HireVue suggests setting aside 45). The same FAQ says these interviews usually replace the recruiter’s screening call, that people make the hiring decisions after later rounds, and that there is no course that can “game” the assessment.
Practise for that format on camera, against a timer, with no second take: Huru and Big Interview VideoAI are the closest matches above.
A live copilot is a third thing. Tools such as Final Round AI’s Interview CoPilot listen to the real interview and suggest answers on a screen the interviewer cannot see. Employers set their own rules, and some publish them: Anthropic’s candidate guidance, for example, encourages AI for interview preparation but allows no AI assistance in live interviews unless the company says so. If an employer’s rules are silent, ask the recruiter before you use one.
Can ChatGPT run a mock interview? Yes, with a strict prompt
ChatGPT can run a mock interview in voice mode, and the prompt decides the quality. Paste the job description and your resume first, then this instruction (fill in the brackets):
The “do not praise” and “be strict” lines matter most: in an r/jobsearchhacks thread about a ChatGPT interview bot, one user wrote that it praised answers they knew were bad until asked to be objective and critical. Ask for new questions each round, because a repeated set only trains memory.
What happens to your recordings and resume?
Mock interview tools record your voice, sometimes your face, and often your resume. Here is what four companies state on the pages linked above (checked October 2026); for every other tool, read the privacy policy before you upload anything.
| Tool | What its own page says |
|---|---|
| Interviews by AI | Audio is deleted right after transcription; your interview history is saved if you log in |
| Yoodli | Starter and Pro session data may be used to improve the platform; Advanced excludes your data from AI training |
| ChatGPT voice | Audio clips from Live and Advanced voice are kept with the chat transcript for 30 days; transcripts may be used for training if “Improve the model for everyone” is on |
| HireVue (employer interviews) | Data is kept for the period the hiring company chooses; ask that company to delete it |
How to practise with AI for free
A week of practice costs nothing if you spend each free allowance where it does the most good:
- Day 1, delivery check: one round of the Fluently mock interview to see your pace and filler words.
- Days 2–3, volume: Huru with the real job post, on camera if your interview is on video.
- Day 4, the hard questions: spend the 3 free Interviews by AI questions on the three you fear most.
- Technical candidates: the interviewing.io AI Interviewer, both free HackerRank mocks, and one Aced peer mock from the 5 a month.
- Day before: ChatGPT or Gemini Live with the strict prompt, then one run with a friend.
A headset with a microphone and a quiet room help every tool hear you; Big Interview’s help page recommends both. If nerves are the problem more than content, repeat the same opening answer until it feels routine. For speaking practice outside interview prep, see how to practise English speaking alone.
Rehearse this short screening exchange out loud. Play the candidate; the trainer reads the interviewer. The numbers are an example: swap in your own.
Screening round: opening questions
B1–B2- Interviewer
Thanks for joining. Can you tell me about yourself?
- Candidate
Sure. I’m a data analyst with two years of experience in retail. I build weekly sales reports in SQL and Power BI. Last year I found an error in our discount data, and fixing it saved about two percent of monthly revenue. Now I want to work on bigger data sets, and this role does that.
- Interviewer
Why are you leaving your current job?
- Candidate
I’ve learned a lot there, but the team is small and the work is mostly reporting. I want to do more analysis that changes decisions, and your job description talks about exactly that.
- Interviewer
What would have made you stay?
- Candidate
Honestly, a chance to own one analysis project from start to finish. I asked for it, but the company needed reports first. That’s fair, and it’s also why I’m looking now.
Practise this dialogue
Listen to the whole exchange, then take one role: your partner’s lines are read aloud, you say yours into the microphone and see which words came through.
Where AI interview feedback falls short
AI mock interviews are good for repetitions and delivery, and weaker at judging what you said. Five limits to know before you trust a score:
- Speech recognition can mishear you, and Huru’s own FAQ says so about its tool; a misheard word can lower a score for a reason that is not yours.
- Content scores check shape more than substance. A tool can see that your answer has a situation, action and result, not whether that result is impressive for your field.
- Technical accuracy needs a technical tool. Fluently’s mock interview, for one, does not check whether your SQL or system design is right; for that, use a platform that reviews your code, such as HackerRank or interviewing.io.
- A score is not a hiring prediction. Huru’s FAQ calls its scores “coaching signals, not hiring decisions or guarantees”.
- An AI interviewer does not react like a person, with interruptions or a raised eyebrow. Book at least one human session: a peer on Aced, a friend or a paid interviewer.
If English is the part that slows you down, start with the language: our guide to English for job interviews has the phrases and answer frameworks, and the English speaking test shows which skill needs the time you have left.
Rehearse your answers out loud, free
Open the Fluently mock interview in your browser, answer 5 questions with follow-ups, and see your pace, answer length and filler words after each one. No account needed. For feedback on your pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, continue in the Fluently app.
